I sent flowers to Mom and Gretchen for Mother's Day...what'd you do, Bruce? Eh? Eh? Those lucky ducks in Nova Scotia had lobster today...I'm drooling just thinking about it. Can you believe a pound of bologna costs the same as a pound of lobster on the east coast right now??? Next they'll be telling me that Spam is a delicacy.
Today marks the beginning of the final week of P90X. I will give a full update at the end of the week on the results, and my overall assessment of the program. Tony kicked my ass again today, but I weighed in at just over 184.
A mini-wave of nice weather hit and yesterday I took advantage of the sun and did a major clean up in the moss-ridden back "yard" (a yard by Vancouver standards, a planter box by Canadian standards). Our little area was destroyed by heavy snow breaking down bushes, and a long dark winter lead to serious moss problems. I cleaned up all the patio furniture and put it out with the umbrella...and the kids decided we should eat dinner outside! It was warm enough with a light sweater and so we had our first outdoor meal of the year on May 9...that's actually the earliest date I've eaten outside in the last 15 years in Vancouver.

Day 39
Just a quick update on P90X. I'm in week 2 of Phase 2 now, and I've been going 39 days solid. Phase 2 is kicking my sorry butt. Some days I can hardly lift my arms to put on my deodorant. Tony recommends 7 hours of sleep every night in Phase 2 and let me tell you, I am so wiped out it is no problem. Pre-P90X I was sleeping 5 or maybe 6 hours a night on average.

Day 18
This morning I weighed in at under 190 lbs for the first time in over a year and a half. I feel great and have new found energy. Today I tackled yoga, whereas 2 weeks ago it chewed me up and spit me out.

...Bring It Again!
Day 5 of P90X is Legs and Back and Ab Ripper...I did better on this. Day 6 is Kenpo, a combination of street fighting and taekwondo moves. Kenpo is a lot of fun, and a killer cardio workout. On Friday, Day 7 for me, you can rest or stretch. I did the stretch routine and it was almost as hard as the yoga workout!!! Sheesh!
I'm now into Day 4 of week 2, which is a repeat of week 1. That meant today was yoga day again! I did much better than last week, and I feel pumped up this morning!
My big flaw in my timing in starting this program is that I'm going to be on Day 77 just when we go to Hawaii!!!

Bring It!
Through a bizarre sequence of events, I somehow find myself on Day 4 of Tony Horton's P90X program. I swear that every muscle in my entire body is aching. I am in agony like I have never felt before...especially my legs, that I thought were reasonably well conditioned from running. Nooooo!
Day 1 was 'chest and back' (an hour of pushups and pullups) - thank goodness I didn't have to drive to work that day, as I didn't have the strength left to turn the wheel. Day 2 was 'plyometrics' (an hour of squats and jumps) - my legs are still burning two days later. Day 3 was 'shoulders and arms' - this day would have been OK but it was followed by 'ab ripper' - 339 ab moves in 15 minutes. Ouch! Day 4 sounded easy - 'yoga'. But after an hour and forty minutes, my body was a crumpled ball of crap lying on the floor. I could hardly move today! Tomorrow is 'legs and back', a chance to redeem myself with my running legs...I hope!
The people at work are already taking bets as to how many days I will last. So far the longest is 21 days! Sheesh! Give me a little credit, people!!!
